A brief bio

I am a writer, editor, and tarot reader based in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I teach online creative writing, composition, and literature courses at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where I graduated with my PhD in August 2021. Recent essays are forthcoming or have been published in Gulf Coast, Barrelhouse, Split Lip Magazine, Brevity,  and SFWP Quarterly. My current manuscript No Easy Way Out is a memoir-in-essays that examines the stories I reported on as a white, middle-class crime reporter in the Deep South alongside personal narrative about body, family, and healthcare.

I also write “interruptions,” which was featured as a Top 100 in Literature newsletter on Substack in 2022. interruptions explores themes of illness, literature, the tarot, and my efforts to lead a peer-to-peer care community on Discord.
