A brief bio

I am a writer, editor, and tarot reader living in Nebraska, where I teach creative writing, composition, and literature courses at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Recent poems and essays are forthcoming or have been published in Barrelhouse, Split Lip Magazine, Brevity,  and SFWP Quarterly. My current manuscript No Easy Way Out is a memoir-in-essays that examines the stories I reported on as a white, middle-class crime reporter in the Deep South alongside personal narrative about body, family, and healthcare.

I also write “interruptions,” a Top 100 in Literature newsletter on Substack. interruptions explores themes of illness, literature, the tarot, and my efforts to lead a peer-to-peer care community on Discord. To join the Discord, email me at cameronscottsteele@gmail.com. To subscribe to the newsletter, visit steelecs.substack.com.
